Materials Service Officer
Location: Downpatrick
Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Materials Service Officer to support the efficient management and distribution of stock and supplies across hospital wards and departments. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and reliable individual with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently as part of a busy materials management team.
Key Responsibilities
As a Materials Service Officer, you will:
- Monitor and record ward and departmental stock levels, ensuring timely replenishment of supplies.
- Accurately enter inventory information into the materials management system.
- Deliver stock and supplies to wards and departments throughout the Trust.
- Unpack deliveries and store goods in designated locations in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Maintain effective stock control, including stock rotation and inventory checks.
- Receive, check and process stock and non-stock deliveries.
- Operate stock replenishment and inventory management systems.
- Use barcode scanners and computer systems to support inventory control and information management.
- Remove and dispose of waste packaging in designated collection areas.
- Liaise with ward and departmental staff regarding stock usage, delivery requirements and planned demand.
- Assist with general stores and warehouse duties, including housekeeping and inventory auditing.
- Help protect stock from damage, loss and deterioration.
- Provide cover at alternative stores locations as required to meet service needs.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must have:
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above) or equivalent qualifications.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to accurately maintain records and follow procedures.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems.
- A flexible and proactive approach to work.
