Key Duties
- Receive, sort and process laboratory specimens.
- Label, catalogue and prepare samples for analysis.
- Assist with laboratory data entry and record management.
- Operate laboratory analysers and equipment following appropriate training.
- Maintain stock levels and laboratory supplies.
- Support equipment maintenance and cleaning procedures.
- Dispose of laboratory waste in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Adhere to Health & Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, and Trust policies.
- Work collaboratively with Biomedical Scientists and the wider laboratory team.
Essential Criteria
- GCSE English Language and Mathematics (Grade C or above) or equivalent.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work accurately with a high level of attention to detail.
- Competent IT and data entry skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous laboratory or healthcare experience.
- Experience of specimen handling or processing.
- Science-related qualifications.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and infection control practices.
Working Pattern
The post forms part of a 24-hour laboratory service and successful applicants may be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays as part of a rotational shift pattern.
