Job Title: Planning Engineer
Location: Oldham
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum
Employment Type: Permanent, Monday to Friday
We are a leading engineering firm based in Oldham, and we are seeking a dedicated Planning Engineer to join our team. Purpose of the Job:
As a Planning Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to produce detailed schedules for purchasing and job planning for our manufacturing departments, ensuring they align with the technical details and specifications provided by our valued customers. You will play a crucial role in optimizing our processes and ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency are maintained at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Prioritize safety in all your work activities, promoting personal safety and that of your colleagues, and report any near misses to prevent accidents.
- Interpret and comprehend technical drawings and customer requirements to create precise manufacturing plans.
- Generate detailed schedules for the purchasing department, covering raw materials and sub-contracted services.
- Develop meticulous job plans for manufacturing processes, focusing on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of departmental documentation.
- Enforce adherence to working procedures throughout the manufacturing process.
- Manage the timely removal of outdated manufacturing information, in line with company procedures.
- Securely store information in both hard copy and electronic formats.
- Create detailed AutoCAD drawings, Q Sketches, and plant drawings as required for manufacturing.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team when necessary to address contract-related requirements.
- Provide technical support to the production departments.
- Engage with customers as needed to resolve technical issues, ensuring a “right first time” approach.
- Attend relevant meetings, including handovers, pre-production, updates, and production meetings.
- Strictly adhere to company and departmental procedures.
- Accommodate ad-hoc duties as requested.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, free from obstructions.
- Use appropriate PPE at all times and replace it when it no longer offers the necessary protection.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Proficiency in IT skills.
- Familiarity with company systems.
- Knowledge of departmental procedures.
- A strong foundation in engineering.
- Understanding of fabrication, machining, and general workshop practices and capabilities.
