Receptionist
Location: Ballymena
Rate of Pay: £13.69 per hour
Hours: 27.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Ongoing
The post holder will provide a courteous and efficient reception service to members of the public and deliver routine clerical support to the Office Administrator.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide a professional, efficient and welcoming reception service in line with the Centre’s commitment to high-quality customer service
- Implement emergency procedures, including medical incidents, fire alarms and pool alarms, in accordance with Normal Operating Procedures (NOPs) and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)
- Control and monitor lighting across designated areas of the leisure centre
- Authorise refunds and complimentary vouchers in line with centre procedures
- Prepare and maintain till floats in accordance with established procedures
- Provide accurate information on all leisure centre activities, facilities
- Manage ticket sales for special events across council-wide facilities, including postal distribution where required
- Operate the switchboard, handling incoming calls promptly and updating voicemail messages when required
- Use the public address system effectively in line with reception procedures
Essential Criteria
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- GCSE Maths and English Language (Grade C or above), or equivalent, plus one year’s relevant administrative experience
- Six months’ clerical experience in a customer-focused environment
- Alternatively, candidates who do not hold the required educational qualifications may be considered if they can demonstrate four years’ relevant experience in a similar role
IT Skills:
Applicants must hold a qualification demonstrating competent word processing and database skills, and the ability to use a range of software packages. Examples include RSA/OCR Stage II, ECDL, IT or similar qualifications.
Alternatively, candidates without a formal qualification must demonstrate at least one year’s experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
