Receptionist

Location: Ballymena
Hours: 26.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Sunday on a rota basis
Temporary Position

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and customer-focused Receptionist to work on behalf of our client in Ballymena.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a professional, courteous and efficient reception service to members of the public, while also providing administrative and clerical support to the wider team.

This is a busy, public-facing position requiring excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to confidently deal with a wide range of customer enquiries.

Key Responsibilities

Duties will include:

  • Providing a professional and welcoming reception service to customers and visitors.
  • Responding to customer enquiries in person and over the telephone.
  • Operating computerised booking and Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) systems.
  • Processing cash, credit and debit card transactions accurately.
  • Balancing and verifying daily takings and preparing relevant documentation.
  • Managing bookings, ticket sales and customer memberships.
  • Providing information on leisure centre activities, facilities, courses and services.
  • Operating the telephone switchboard and public address system.
  • Completing general administrative duties using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Maintaining accurate customer, visitor and contractor records.
  • Assisting with the administration of swimming programmes, courses, classes and activity schemes.
  • Handling customer queries and complaints professionally and ensuring matters are followed through appropriately.
  • Maintaining reception stock, equipment hire records and lost property.
  • Supporting the implementation of relevant centre procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
  • Ensuring customer information is handled securely and confidentially.
  • Carrying out other relevant duties appropriate to the role as required.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades A-C, including Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications demonstrating numeracy and literacy.

And

A minimum of 6 months’ experience in each of the following areas:

  • Dealing or working with members of the public and providing a high standard of customer care.
  • Effective cash handling, including the use of credit/debit card machines and an EPOS system or cash register.
  • Using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Alternative Criteria

Applicants who do not hold the required educational qualifications may still be considered if they can demonstrate at least one year’s relevant experience in a similar role.
