Casual Receptionist – Leisure Centre (Larne)
Location: Larne Leisure Centre
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Temporary, Casual (as and when required)
Rate of Pay : £13.69 per hour
About the Role
We are currently seeking a professional and customer-focused Casual Receptionist to join a busy leisure centre team in Larne. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public and thrives in a fast-paced environment, delivering a high standard of front-of-house service while supporting administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Reception Duties
- Provide a courteous, efficient, and welcoming reception service to all customers
- Answer telephone calls promptly and manage switchboard operations
- Handle customer queries, feedback, and complaints, escalating where necessary
- Operate the public address system in accordance with procedures
- Provide information on leisure centre services, activities, and Council-wide facilities
Booking & Financial Duties
- Operate computerised booking and point-of-sale systems
- Process payments, including cash, card, and online transactions
- Issue tickets, refunds, and complimentary vouchers as required
- Balance daily takings (cash, cheques, card payments) and complete relevant documentation
- Prepare till floats and handle deposits for equipment hire
Operational Support
- Implement emergency procedures (fire alarm, medical, pool alarms) in line with NOPs and EAPs
- Monitor lighting and general reception area operations
- Control access to the centre, including entry of visitors and contractors
- Issue visitor badges and maintain accurate records
- Manage lost property procedures, including safe handling of valuables
- Assist in monitoring swimming pool access and enforcing centre policies
- Prevent entry of non-payers and ensure child protection policies are followed
Administrative Duties
- Provide clerical support to the Office Administrator
- Maintain accurate records in line with data protection regulations
- Support ticket sales and distribution for special events
Essential Criteria
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- GCSE Maths and English Language (Grade C or above) or equivalent and at least 1 year’s relevant administrative experience
OR
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in a similar role (in lieu of qualifications)
In addition, candidates must have:
- At least 6 months’ clerical experience in a customer-focused environment
- A minimum of 6 months’ experience using Microsoft Office
