Our client, A Large public sector organisation, based in Lisburn is looking for an Scientific Officer to join their team.
Duration: March 2026 with possible extension
Rate of pay: £17.43
Location: Lisburn
Hours: Flexi, 7.4 hours per day (not including lunch breaks) Monday through to Friday. Staff are required to attend the Lisburn site Monday through to Friday, (These posts are Laboratory Based and so not suitable for Hybrid Working).
Start date: ASAP
Main Duties
Preparation and analysis of environmental samples for the presence of toxic organic substances by use of GCMS and/or LCMS.
Preparation and analysis of QC samples, performance of system suitability checks, updating QC charts and assisting with the investigation of issues arising, maintenance of the ISO17025 Quality Management System.
Participation in associated external proficiency schemes.
Timely reporting of analytical data to end user teams.
Maintenance of automated sample prep systems and MS instrumentation.
Assistance with the delivery of method development projects.
Management of laboratory resources: stock control, ordering of consumables, upkeep of the maintenance and calibration schedule, etc.
Adherence to H&S policies, COSHH and RAs
Essential Criteria:
- 5 GCSEs A-C (Must include Maths and English)
- An HNC/HND or equivalent/higherqualification in an appropriate discipline such as chemistry, biochemistry, etc.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of working in the field of environmental analysis by use of Mass Spectrometry would be desirable.
