We are currently working with a Large Public Sector body in recruiting for an Assistant Scientific Officer based in Newfordge.

Main Duties

Using QGIS editing tools to assist with drainage line digitising and editing for the NI LiDAR data set.

Specific Experience / Qualifications required

  • Experience in QGIS and competency in editing line work using standard GIS tools.
  • An understanding of river hydrology and the flow of water in the landscape.
  • Ability to cross reference aerial orthoimagery, digital terrain models and historic maps to assist with drainage correction and digitising.
  • Qualifications – a degree in geography, environmental science or equivalent area, which must have included a taught module in GIS. Alternatively, an additional PG qualification in GIS.

Required start date ASAP

Duration of placement 4 months

Hours of work (9 to 5) Flexible (Core hours 10-2 and 2-4 daily)

Hours of work each week 37

Days of work each week Monday-Friday
