We are recruiting a Hospital Specialty Training Executive Officer

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Thursday & 8.30am – 4.30pm on Friday.

About the Role

We are seeking a Hospital Specialty Training Executive Officer to provide high‑quality administrative support to postgraduate medical training programmes. The role involves supporting specialty recruitment, placement allocation, ARCP processes, inductions, education delivery, and committee administration, working closely with managers, educators, trainees, and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate specialty recruitment processes, including vacancies, interviews, and pre‑placement checks
  • Support the allocation of trainee placements and communicate outcomes
  • Administer ARCP and revalidation processes in line with guidance
  • Provide administrative support to Specialty School Boards and Training Committees
  • Coordinate specialty inductions, teaching programmes, and attendance records
  • Maintain accurate databases, records, and ePortfolio systems
  • Supervise and support colleagues and assist with departmental activities

Essential Criteria

Qualifications / Experience

  • GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics (A–C) or equivalent qualification to demonstrate literacy and numeracy or a higher qualification
    AND
  • 2 A Levels or equivalent qualification or higher qualification
    AND
  • 18 months’ relevant experience*
    OR
  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience*

*Relevant experience is defined as working in an office environment carrying out administrative duties such as preparing correspondence, maintaining systems/databases, and communicating with stakeholders.

Skills / Knowledge

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Other Requirements

  • Hold a current full UK driving licence and have access to a car on appointment
    (This requirement will be waived for applicants whose disability prevents driving but who have access to approved alternative transport to carry out the duties of the post.)
