Our client, A Large public sector organisation, is looking for a Staff Officer to join their team in Stormont

Duration: 3 months with possible extension

Rate of pay: £17.94 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

Hours: Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am – 5pm

Location: Stormont

Digital communications

  • Effective use of social and digital media including photography, infographics and video.
  • To assist with the provision of videography and photography within the department
  • To assist in the planning and delivery of creative, dynamic and engaging digital solutions.
  • To assist the Social Media Manager to develop digital content including high-quality visual content (such as videos, graphics, infographics and digital animations) for a range of social media channels, ensuring appropriate content and tone to deliver departmental messaging.
  • To assist in the management of the department’s social media channels and measure the effectiveness of communications through regular analysis of digital analytics.
  • To ensure government communications are accessible and available to as many individuals as possible, using plain English, sub-titles, alternative (alt) text, Camel Case, sign-language, and Easy Read versions, were appropriate.
  • Media monitoring
  • Monitor social media and websites for breaking news and political reaction to breaking news.
  • Alert the Head of Press Office/Senior Press Officers to breaking news that may impact on the Department.
  • Alert the Minister/SpAD/Departmental officials to breaking news that may impact on the Department.
  • Order transcripts through Media Monitoring Unit on request.

General/Admin

  • Managing press office administrative functions and resources as required.
  • Maintaining and building good working relationships with internal and external key stakeholders and partners.
  • Maintain timely records of media queries/tracking inquiries on Knowledge Network.
  • Alert the Head of Press Office/Senior Press Officer to any FOIs or AQs which may attract media attention.
  • Other admin duties as requested.

Essential Criteria:

The postholder should have extensive experience in communications, including but not exclusive to –

  • Writing press releases; platform pieces; and writing for social media and website.
  • Experience of media handling
  • Experience in using digital platforms to communicate targeted messages in a variety of formats including graphics; infographics; video content.
  • The postholder will need to demonstrate sound judgement, political awareness, and sensitivity towards the many issues within the Justice remit.
