Our client, a large public sector organization based in South Belfast, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Staff Officer to join their dynamic infrastructure team. This 12-month opportunity offers you the chance to contribute to the growth and development of the sport system in Northern Ireland. - Location: South Belfast
- Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 08:30-17:00, Friday 08:30-16:30
Overall Purpose of the Job: As a Staff Officer, you will be an integral part of the infrastructure team, managing investment into sports. Your role will involve engaging with sports organizations, monitoring performance against strategic targets, and acting as the lead officer for partnerships with various sports organizations. Additionally, you will work closely with the Deputy Principal to contribute to strategic objectives within the Sporting System.
Duties and Responsibilities: Advisory Services (Supporting the Sport System):
- Help stakeholders understand Sport NI Strategy and Business Plans.
- Advise and support sports organizations in various areas, including partnerships, talent development, governance, and mental health in sports.
- Undertake periodic evaluations of stakeholder bodies and facilitate their development plans.
- Lead projects, using data to maximize investment impact.
Project Management:
- Plan, manage, and monitor projects, ensuring they meet deadlines and performance targets.
- Evaluate project risks and implement necessary mitigation steps.
- Maintain accurate project records and reports.
Governance, Policy, and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Sport NI’s governance controls and policies.
- Assess eligibility of applications against established criteria.
- Monitor and report on progress against operational plans.
Data Analysis:
- Analyze data from various sources to assess the state of development of sports organizations.
- Monitor and report on data analytics to inform strategic decision-making.
- Develop and maintain systems for gathering, analyzing, and reviewing information.
Business Case Development and Evaluation:
- Assist in the development and evaluation of business cases from applicant organizations.
Corporate Management and Line Management:
- Ensure efficient resource management aligned with business objectives.
- Manage individual and team performance and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Undertake other duties related to the post’s objectives.
Essential Criteria:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year full-time employment (or part-time equivalent) experience in a sports environment with a proven record of success OR at least 2 years of full-time experience (or part-time equivalent) in a sports environment with a proven record of success.
- Demonstrable experience in project management methodologies.
- Proven ability to collaborate and drive positive change.
- Experience in developing effective relationships and partnerships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- Proven track record of contributing to the implementation and evaluation of sport programs.
- Demonstrable experience in managing staff.
