Statistical Officer – Belfast

Position: Statistical Officer

Pay Rate: £19.59 per hour

Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week, Flexible hours; Monday to Friday

Duration: 4th of October, with possibility of extension

Start Date: 03/08/2026

Location: Colby House

Job Duties:

This role within the Administrative Data Research Northern Ireland (ADR NI) Research Support Unit (RSU) will assist in the development of the Longitudinal Education Outcomes Northern Ireland (LEO NI) dataset.

Main Duties
a) Data Acquisition
•     Assist in the development of Project Initiation Documents and Feasibility Proposals.
•     Assist in the completion of DPIAs and DSAs.
•     Design and create datasets to agreed specifications.
b) Themed Dataset Development
•     Engage with UK research centres, NI research community, and NISRA to identify priority areas.
•     Establish access policies for themed datasets.
•     Identify gaps and future development opportunities.
•     Assist in the development of programme plans and timelines.
c) Policy Engagement
•     Represent the project at conferences and seminars.
•     Prepare metadata and supporting documentation.
•     Liaise with senior researchers and data providers.
•     Promote datasets within the research community.
The post holder will perform the duties through a combination of home and office working arrangements.

Essential Criteria:

  • 5 GCSE’s A*-C including Maths and English (must be able to show evidence)
  • Applicants must have At least a second class honours degree [2.2] that includes at least one module in statistics, data analysis or social science research methods
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desired Experience: 

  • Desirable skills include SQL, Stata, SPSS

*The successful applicant will be required to complete an Access NI during registration*
