Join a leading manufacturer as a Technical Manager in North Somerset! Our client continues to grow every year and is expanding their team with some excellent opportunities.
As Technical Manager, you will report to the Managing Director and will have relationships with all other departments. You will be a member of the senior leadership team.
Salary £60k-£70k depending on experience and suitability.
The Technical Manager is responsible for;
- Engineering
- NPI Design
- Product Application Team (technical knowledge leadership & support)
Role Objectives
- Product development, owning the technical strategy for new product development process, introduction and launch to the operational business
- Production manufacturing pack releases, owning the strategy to ensure Operations OTD KPI is achieved for runners, repeats and strangers product types
- Ensure technical team activities remain on time and within budget
- Design for manufacture & assembly
- Product lifecycle and engineering change control
Responsibilities and Duties within the role
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of technical professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Drive the product development roadmap, aligning with the company’s overall strategic objectives and market demands.
- Collaborate closely with Sales & Marketing, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver innovative and customer-focused solutions.
- Market analysis and competitor product evaluations
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols.
- Creating, implementing, and monitoring clear goals and KPIs for individual departments.
- Track staffing requirements, hiring new employees as needed and developing existing employees.
- Oversee technical knowledge sharing and support across all technical departments of the business enabling communication and collaboration.
Scope of Role:
- Reports to Managing Director
- Responsible for product development strategy and delivering on the agreed plan as part of the Business Strategy.
- Responsible for product development processes & improvements of these processes.
- Responsible for managing processes & improvements of these processes.
- Oversight of the technical departments of the company.
Qualifications and knowledge
- ILM 5 certification or above desired
Skills
- Demonstrated success in managing and developing high-performing technical teams.
- Experience in developing strategic business plans and/or implementing them effectively.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Conflict resolution (dealing with HR issues).
- Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
