  • 37 hours per week (Mon–Fri), flexible working with core hours (10am–12pm & 2pm–4pm)

About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Support Officer to join our client in the Development Programme Group. This role is vital in supporting the delivery of the Social Housing Development Programme (SHDP) through the coordination and completion of technical assessments, production of reports, and providing expert technical advice.

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and evolving environment, supporting clients commitment to delivering high‑quality, value‑for‑money housing schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and complete technical assessments for Project Approval applications, ensuring compliance with design standards, costs, and value for money requirements.
  • Support timely scheme approvals to ensure annual programme targets and budget expenditure are achieved.
  • Engage in pre‑assessment discussions with Housing Associations and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical advice to Housing Associations, as required.
  • Undertake audits of completed SHDP-funded schemes (via site visits and As Built drawing checks).
  • Maintain accurate documentation in line with internal procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of design standards and participate in review/consultation exercises.
  • Support ongoing learning and share knowledge to ensure consistency in assessments.
  • Carry out technical assessments across a range of funding streams including new build and adaptations.
  • Strengthen partnership working external stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications (one of the following):

  1. A registered Architect or Architecture graduate with minimum 2 years’ relevant experience, OR
  2. BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma (or equivalent) in Architecture/Construction with minimum 3 years’ relevant experience, OR
  3. Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in lieu of the above qualifications (considered exceptionally).

Essential Experience

Candidates must demonstrate experience in all of the following areas:

  1. Housing Scheme Design Process, including compliance with relevant standards and funding criteria.
  2. Housing Scheme Development Process, including understanding delivery barriers.
  3. Partnership working with key stakeholders involved in housing development.
  4. Technical assessment of project proposals, including producing clear, evidence‑based recommendations.

Additional Requirements

  • Advanced IT skills.
  • 1–5 years’ relevant professional experience.
  • A current full driving licence or access to appropriate transport to meet the requirements of the post.
  • Access NI Basic Check required.
