Tours and Collections Assistant – Belfast City Centre – 3 Month FTC
Our Public Sector Client are looking for a Tours and Collections Assistant to start as soon as possible. The initial assignment is for a period of 3 months with extensions beyond this likely.
Hourly rate: £12.80 ph
Hours of work: Mon – Fri 9am – 5pm (37 hours pw)
Duration: 3 months
Main Purpose of Job:
- Deliver efficient public tours and visitor experiences at City Hall.
- Provide bespoke private tours for civic dignitaries, elected members, or senior officers.
- Manage booking systems for tours and assist with invoicing processes.
- Assist in managing City Hall’s artefacts and artworks collections.
- Support other unit services and perform general administrative tasks.
- Maintain and enhance the council’s reputation through high professionalism and customer care.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct public and private tours, adapting content as needed.
- Review and improve tour routes and content.
- Develop special and themed tours for significant events.
- Create and distribute publicity material.
- Implement and manage booking processes for tours.
- Assist with financial processes for tour bookings.
- Oversee exhibition facilities and art collections management.
- Assist visitors and provide information.
- Develop and update tour scripts considering sensitivities.
- Support marketing activities for tours and exhibitions.
- Train, supervise, and deploy casual tour guides.
- Record and handle public donations.
- Perform general office administrative tasks.
- Participate in working groups and project teams.
Employee Specification:
- Experience: Minimum one year in each of the following:
- Guided tours and visitor experience
- Customer-facing environment with administrative and cash handling duties
- Use of Microsoft Office and specialised software for reports and statistics
- Skills:
- Effective communication (oral and written)
- Excellent customer care
- Strong organisational and work planning
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in standard office and finance software
Shortlisting Criteria:
- Additional experience (two years in each area)
- At least five GCSEs (grades A-C) including English, or equivalent qualifications
