New data has revealed one in ten NHS job posts are vacant, meaning the NHS has over 130,000 FTE vacancies. NHS officials have advised that it could take up to five years to get back to pre-pandemic levels. Backlogs, a huge waiting list, mental health difficulties, and burnout amongst NHS and public sector workers will increase the workforce shortage and increase the level of employees off sick throughout the winter peak period.
