Higher Clerical Officer/ Receptionist

Belfast

£12.31 per hour

35.5 Hours a week

Rota including evening and weekends

Main Duties / Purpose Of Job

  1. Deal with telephone enquiries and personal contact with the general public and other visitors to the department in a courteous and efficient manner.
  1. Maintain and update the Trust computer systems, e.g. registering patients on P.A.S, inputting manually recorded clinical data and other relevant patient information. Report all I.T faults and follow up on progress.
  2. Retrieve patient records from medical records Library for Emergency Department attendances and admissions and forward, along with relevant documentation to ward.
  1. Provide medical records out of hours cover for other wards and departments.

  1. Inform nursing and medical staff of patients who are about to breach the waiting time target.
  1. Follow up results to expedite the patient journey.

  1. File investigation results including x-ray reports along with relevant ED flimsies when required.
  1. Retrieve ED flimsies for those patients who have previously attended when required.

  1. Take details of patients who arrive by ambulance and register on P.A.S.
  1. Ensure prompt and accurate dispatch of information to departments within the Hospital, other hospitals and General Practitioners.
  1. Liaise with GP, s, Health Visitors, medical and nursing staff and admin staff on a day to day basis.
  1. Provide information to Health Visitors, GPs and medical staff as required either via email or post.
  1. Assist in the maintenance of the ED filing systems and in the appropriate archiving or destruction of confidential information in accordance with Belfast Trust policies.
  1. Ensure protocols governing confidentiality are adhered to at all times.

Main Qualifications / Experience SOUGHT

5 GCSEs at Grades A-C including Maths and English or equivalent / higher qualification

AND

1 years’ experience in a clerical / administrative role

OR

2 years’ experience in a clerical /

administrative role

Experience in the use of Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, Power Point
