Building Supervisor (Temporary Contract)

Pay Rate: £25,583 – £25,989 per annum pro rata
Hours: 36 hours per week

The Recruitment Co. are currently recruiting for a Building Supervisor on behalf of Libraries NI, based at Belfast Central Library.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, assistant building supervisor, or facilities professional to join a busy public service environment. The successful candidate will provide both cleaning and non-cleaning services, ensuring the building is maintained to a high standard and remains safe, secure and welcoming for staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning and caretaking duties throughout the building
• Open and close the premises and undertake key holder responsibilities
• Ensure the security of the building and report any issues as required
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including floor-cleaning machinery
• Carry out routine building checks and minor maintenance duties
• Work in accordance with Health & Safety procedures, including COSHH regulations
• Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the library building
• Lone working may be required

Essential Criteria

Applicants must:

• Hold a valid full driving licence
• Have a minimum of 1 year’s experience as an Assistant Building Supervisor, Caretaker, or in a similar role within a medium to large building
• Have experience with opening and closing buildings and carrying out key holder duties
• Have knowledge of building cleaning methods and the safe use of electrical cleaning equipment
• Have an awareness of Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH and/or CLP regulations
• Be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Be flexible to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends as required
• Have no criminal record that would prevent working with children or vulnerable adults

Working Pattern

• 36 hours per week
• Shifts may include mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends
• Minimum 30-minute break after 4 hours worked
