About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can combine strong business management skills with the ability to influence, coordinate and deliver across complex work programmes. You will help ensure priorities are clearly planned, progress is effectively monitored and resources are used to deliver meaningful outcomes.

Working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, the post holder will support business planning, performance reporting, governance arrangements and continuous improvement. The role will suit someone who is confident managing competing priorities, building productive relationships and turning plans into practical action.

Key responsibilities

  • Drive the development and delivery of strategic plans, business plans and operational work programmes.
  • Track progress against objectives, milestones, risks and key performance indicators, ensuring issues are identified and addressed.
  • Prepare high-quality business cases, investment proposals, reports and forecasts to support decision-making.
  • Coordinate effective governance arrangements, reporting processes, steering groups and advisory meetings.
  • Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders across health, academia, government, industry and professional networks.
  • Support partnership working, collaborative projects and service improvement initiatives.
  • Lead day-to-day business operations, helping teams plan, prioritise and use resources effectively.
  • Promote compliance with organisational, regulatory and data governance requirements.
  • Demonstrate impact by developing measures that show value, benefits and outcomes.

Essential criteria

We are looking for applicants who can bring energy, professionalism and sound judgement to a varied business management role. Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

  • A university degree, professional qualification or at least two years’ experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written communication skills, including preparing business cases, proposals, bids or reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to set objectives and work effectively to agreed priorities.
  • Experience working across different teams, organisations and staff groups.

If you are ready to use your business management, planning and stakeholder engagement skills in a role where your work will support meaningful service delivery, we would welcome your application for this Band 7 Business Manager opportunity.
