We are currently recruiting for an Equality & Safeguarding Manager to join a leading public sector organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead on equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding initiatives, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations while driving positive organisational change across the organisation.

Belfast (with travel throughout Northern Ireland)
– £23.37 per hour
– 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
– Temporary Contract (Initial 3 Months)

The Role

As Equality & Safeguarding Manager, you will play a key role in implementing equality, diversity and inclusion strategies, developing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and supporting safeguarding initiatives. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to promote best practice and champion an inclusive culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of Equality Scheme and Disability Action Plan objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with equality legislation and Section 75 requirements.
  • Develop, review and implement policies and procedures relating to equality, inclusion and safeguarding.
  • Manage equality screening processes and Equality Impact Assessments (EQIAs).
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding matters.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and partner organisations.
  • Design and deliver training, engagement activities and awareness initiatives.
  • Lead on responses to equality-related complaints, consultations and statutory requests.
  • Support safeguarding activities, policy development and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to organisational projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Criteria

Applicants should possess:

  • A Degree (Level 6) or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline such as Human Resources, Law, Public Policy, Social Policy, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience managing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives within a large organisation.
  • Significant experience in at least three of the following areas:
    • Equality legislation and Section 75 compliance
    • Equality monitoring, evaluation and reporting
    • Equality screening and Equality Impact Assessments
    • Delivery of EDI training and awareness initiatives
    • Providing advice and guidance on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion matters
