About the Role
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for Band 3 Financial Assessment Team Officers to join a busy finance team based in McAvoy House, Newry. These temporary roles offer an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within a public sector environment.
The successful candidates will support the Financial Assessments Team in delivering accurate and efficient financial assessment services, contributing to income generation and financial administration across the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery
- Provide administrative support in preparing and calculating financial assessments, including drafting correspondence, performing routine calculations, and maintaining case files
- Assist with income recovery processes, including calculating charges, generating invoices, issuing reminder notices, and resolving queries
- Accurately input financial transactions into systems such as e-Financials in line with Trust policies and procedures
- Process and record payments, including cash, cheques, and electronic transfers
- Support lodgement preparation by reconciling receipts and verifying amounts
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper coding within financial systems and General Ledger
- Assist with appointeeship duties, including benefit management, payments, and client account administration
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies, escalating issues where necessary
- Contribute to reporting requirements, including statistical returns and financial summaries
General Duties
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all financial records and documentation
- Respond promptly to correspondence and queries in line with departmental procedures
- Support adherence to financial deadlines and reporting cycles
- Participate in general office duties, including processing mail and issuing financial documents
- Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across departments
- Engage in training and development activities and performance reviews
Essential Criteria

Qualification & Experience:
- 4 GCSEs (Grades A-C) including English and Maths (or equivalent) AND at least 1 year’s administrative/clerical experience
OR - A minimum of 2 years’ administrative/clerical experience
- 4 GCSEs (Grades A-C) including English and Maths (or equivalent) AND at least 1 year’s administrative/clerical experience

Skills:
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel (or equivalent systems)

Other Requirements:
- A full, valid UK driving licence with access to a car (reasonable adjustments will be considered in line with disability requirements)
