Job Purpose: The Grounds Supervisor will report to the Grounds Manager and play a key role in the Regional Grounds Maintenance team. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the efficient planned maintenance program while also managing the identification and monitoring of rehabilitation projects and supervising the Tree Surgery Service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Planned Maintenance and Grounds Rehabilitation:

  • Conduct pre-contract surveys to define project scope.
  • Monitor work performed by Contractors and the Executive’s Direct Labour Organization.
  • Prepare detailed reports on work progress and quality.
  • Attend site meetings with the Contract Administrator, Contractor, and Quantity Surveyor to ensure adherence to the program of works.

Response Maintenance:

  • Coordinate Works Orders for Tree Surgery projects.
  • Inspect and assess the progress and quality of Contractors’ work on-site.
  • Collaborate with District Management, District Maintenance, and other reputable groups to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Grounds Maintenance Land Asset Register:

  • Identify changes in areas under Executive ownership to maintain the accuracy of the Land Asset Register database and associated maps.
  • Assess and take responsibility for Soft and Hard landscaping elements in New Build, Environmental Improvements, I.P.B.S., Grounds Rehabilitation, and other schemes with landscape components.

Other Duties:

  • Provide technical evidence on PLIC claims during meetings and court proceedings.
  • Foster strong relationships with housing management, statutory bodies, community groups, and stakeholders involved in Grounds Maintenance.
  • Attend meetings, site visits, discussions, and brief Housing Management on proposed projects.
  • Undertake administrative tasks associated with the role.

Requirements: Applicants must have one of the following:

  • A degree in Landscaping or an equivalent relevant professional qualification. OR
  • A relevant BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma along with 2 years of relevant post-qualification experience.

In exceptional cases, candidates who do not meet the qualification requirement may be considered if they can demonstrate 3 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience includes horticulture, staff supervision, large-scale planting schemes, and grass cutting.
