The Role

The Recruitment Co is currently recruiting for an experienced LGV Driver to join our Public Sector client in Larne on a temporary basis.

The successful candidate will provide general driving support to Operational Services, working as part of a small team to assist with the collection and removal of refuse from household, industrial and commercial premises, including residential properties, shops, schools and business premises.

You will be responsible for the safe operation of allocated vehicles and equipment while supporting waste collection, cleansing, recycling and other associated services.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive and operate allocated vehicles safely and responsibly in accordance with required procedures.
• Carry out pre-use vehicle checks before commencing duties and complete the required vehicle check reports.
• Ensure all on-board systems, including weighing systems, safety devices, in-cab equipment, telematics and communication systems, are fully operational and used correctly.
• Carry out daily cleaning and routine checks of vehicles and associated components.
• Ensure any fitted power mechanisms are clean, maintained and operated appropriately.
• Check that vehicles have sufficient fuel, oil and water at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy before use.
• Take responsibility for allocated vehicles, equipment and passengers while carrying out duties.
• Work as part of a small team to support the effective delivery of waste collection, cleansing and recycling services.
• Adhere to all relevant health and safety procedures and operational requirements.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have:

• A valid Category C Driving Licence.
• A valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card.
• A minimum of two years’ continuous LGV driving experience.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team and carry out duties safely and responsibly.

Any active penalty points on the applicant’s driving licence must be declared along with the relevant code. These will be assessed for relevance to the duties of the position.
