Physiotherapy Assistant – Band 3
– Larne Area
– 37.5 Hours per Week | Monday to Friday
– Temporary Assignment
We’re currently recruiting for a Band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant to join a busy rehabilitation team delivering physiotherapy support across inpatient and community settings in the Larne area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and caring individual to work alongside experienced Physiotherapists, supporting service users to improve their mobility, independence, and overall wellbeing. The successful candidate will manage a delegated caseload within agreed parameters and play an important role in helping service users achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Physiotherapists in delivering effective rehabilitation and treatment programmes.
- Carry out delegated treatment plans, progressing and adapting interventions within agreed parameters.
- Manage a delegated caseload and provide regular updates on service user progress.
- Assist with physiotherapy assessments and treatments as directed.
- Deliver therapeutic exercise programmes and walking practice.
- Measure, issue and provide instruction on the safe use of walking aids.
- Conduct community and home visits to support service users in their own environment.
- Facilitate exercise groups and individual therapy sessions.
- Monitor progress and promptly report any changes in condition or treatment outcomes.
- Provide encouragement, motivation and support to service users throughout their rehabilitation journey.
- Communicate effectively with service users, carers, relatives and multidisciplinary team members.
- Attend multidisciplinary meetings as required and provide feedback on service user progress.
- Maintain accurate patient records and complete all required documentation and statistical returns.
Additional Duties
- Maintain physiotherapy equipment and treatment areas to a high standard.
- Monitor stock levels and report equipment faults when necessary.
- Undertake administrative duties including appointment management, data entry and record retrieval.
- Participate in supervision, training and ongoing professional development.
- Adhere to health and safety, infection prevention and control, and organisational policies and procedures.
- Work at all times within your scope of practice.
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience within a healthcare, rehabilitation, support worker, care assistant or physiotherapy support role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience supporting individuals with varying physical, cognitive or communication needs.
- Competent IT and record-keeping skills.
- Enhanced Access NI with Adult Barred List clearance, or willingness to obtain.
