Water team (Plumber)
Location – Newport (May be required to move around sites throughout Gwent)
Hours of work – Mon – Friday 8am – 4pm
Basic Pay – Between £13.85
Overtime when available – Up to £22.14/hour
The Recruitment Co. Newport has a fantastic opportunity to join the NHS in a temporary but ongoing role that has the potential to lead to a permanent position.
The right candidate for this role must be a strong team player and be flexible, reliable and totally trustworthy.
Key Responsibilities
- Recognised Mechanical/plumbing Apprenticeship
- Working knowledge of Legionella ACOP L8 and WHTM’s
- To have a minimum 3 years’ experience in the relevant trade.
- Commitment and self-motivation.
- Be conversant with various aspects of Planned Preventative Maintenance to do with water management (WHTM 04, L8 ACOP). Carry out repairs, maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment and use all relevant tools and equipment.
- Responsible for fault finding (follow on’s from other staff) and repair maintenance on a wide range of equipment and plant connected to the trusts Hot and cold-water systems.
- Building management systems, checking water temperatures and “trends”, pumps, plate heat exchangers, direct fired water heaters, Calorifiers, motors/pumps and their controls.
- Actively participate in the operation of the Estates / Facilities management system including completion of all paperwork/data collection software and log books, Including completion of all job dockets and time sheets.
- Have the ability to prioritise and plan own workload utilising the Trusts FM management system mobile data, for which appropriate training will be given.
- Obligation to undertake training where necessary to learn new techniques, specifically in relation to specialised testing and maintenance routines, learning new techniques with additional training to own trade.
- Possess the ability to communicate and liaise with all levels of staff on possible technical matters regarding essential maintenance.
- Be able to instruct others on aspects of their own work relating to original trade, including other trades Staff, maintenance assistants and contractors.
- Liaise with ward/department Managers to arrange access for all types of repair and maintenance – draining down system etc.
- Have a good understanding of the workings of other trades in relationship to your own.
- Exposure to heat, noise, body fluids, chemical hazards (chlorine dioxide plant) and sewage.
- Interpretation of drawings including updating current drawings and completing statutory compliance forms.
- Occasional exposure to highly unpleasant working conditions i.e. plant rooms, under crofts, lofts and duct areas. Water team
- Prepared to work outside and at times at height from ladders, mobile platforms and fixed Platforms – via risk assessments and method statements.
- Required to follow Trust & Directorate Procedures and participate in audits from internal and External sources.
- To be able to commit to maintaining high standards of personal hygiene, courteous manner, ability to work under pressure, ability to work unsupervised and part of a team.
- To be able to work alongside other trades.
- Driving license.
- A standard DBS check will be required for this role. This will be applied for by The Recruitment Co. during the application process.
