Senior Recruitment Officer (Band 4)

Salary: £25,147 – £27,596 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Full-Time

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Recruitment Officer to join the Recruitment Shared Service Centre (RSSC). The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a high-quality recruitment and selection service across the Health and Social Care (HSC) sector.

This is a varied and rewarding role involving the management of recruitment campaigns, supervision of staff, oversight of pre-employment checks, and the maintenance of recruitment systems. The postholder will also contribute to service improvement initiatives and support the ongoing development of recruitment processes and practices.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Selection

  • Manage and oversee recruitment and selection activities in line with organisational procedures and employment legislation.
  • Process and monitor recruitment requisitions to ensure timely progression through the recruitment cycle.
  • Ensure all required pre-employment checks are completed and any discrepancies are investigated and resolved appropriately.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers on recruitment and selection procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with candidates throughout the recruitment process, particularly during pre-employment checks.

Team Leadership and Support

  • Supervise and support Recruitment Officers and junior staff.
  • Provide training, coaching and guidance on recruitment processes and complex casework.
  • Assist with workload allocation to ensure recruitment targets and service standards are achieved.
  • Promote a supportive team culture focused on continuous improvement and high performance.

Information Management

  • Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of the E-Recruitment system.
  • Monitor recruitment activity and performance information.
  • Assist with system testing and contribute to the development of system improvements.
  • Produce and support the preparation of recruitment reports and management information.

Service Improvement and Quality

  • Identify opportunities to improve recruitment processes and customer service.
  • Support recruitment events such as open days and recruitment fairs.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and key performance indicators.
  • Participate in the investigation and resolution of recruitment-related queries and complaints.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build positive working relationships with managers, candidates and colleagues across the organisation.
  • Respond to recruitment enquiries from managers, staff and members of the public.
  • Participate in working groups and projects as required.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate one of the following:

  • 2 A Levels (or equivalent/higher qualification); and
  • 18 months’ experience in a clerical or administrative role, including at least 12 months within a Human Resources or Recruitment environment.

OR

  • 3 years’ experience in a clerical or administrative role, including at least 12 months within a Human Resources or Recruitment environment.

In Addition

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
