Job Title: Swimming Teacher
Location: Larne Leisure Centre, Carrick Amphitheatre, Seven Towers Leisure Centre, Ballymena
Salary: £20.00 per 1-hour session

Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Swimming Teacher to deliver high-quality swimming classes, enabling individuals to develop their skills and sustain activity levels. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing swimming opportunities to diverse community groups, ensuring equitable access and promoting healthy lifestyles.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Service Delivery:

  • Deliver swimming classes/lessons as directed by MEAqua Aquatic Lead within the Leisure Centre.
  • Provide swimming opportunities to all sections of the community.
  • Liaise with Duty Officer for successful implementation/delivery.
  • Identify the needs of individual groups and assist with groups to ensure equitable access.
  • Monitor the impact of delivery and promote healthy lifestyles.
  • Forge links with schools, clubs, and community organizations as directed.
  • Ensure efficient and effective operation of sessions, including equipment setup and safety oversight.

2. Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation.
  • Adhere to Council policies and procedures, including health and safety and risk management.
  • Contribute to the Council’s compliance with corporate governance requirements.

3. General Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the Core Values of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.
  • Participate in the Council’s Performance and Development Review process.
  • Fulfill legal Health and Safety duties, ensuring the safety of oneself and others.
  • Contribute to anti-discrimination practices and the Council’s Equality Scheme.
  • Comply with all Council policies and procedures.
  • Maintain records in accordance with Council procedures.

Essential Criteria:

  • Hold a recognized Swimming Teachers qualification (Level 2 – ASA/STA/Swim Ireland).
  • Minimum of 1 year teaching swimming experience.
  • Possess a full current driving license valid in the UK and access to a vehicle or have access to suitable transport for the role.
