Managing Stress.
The 1st to the 5th of November 2021 is Stress Awareness week so we wanted to take the opportunity to share some hints, tips and methods for managing stress be it at work or at home.
Exercise
Working exercise into your routine can be a great way to relieve stress, that doesn’t mean you need to go to the gym, it could be as simple as going on a walk on your lunch break or some other light exercise.
Sleep well
Stress can cause a lack of sleep so catching those zs is easier said than done, but trying to get 7-8 hours of sleep can really help. Take some timeout from screens; laptops, phones etc, before you go to bed and allow yourself time to relax and wind down.
Talk to someone
Whether it’s friends, family or even yourself through positive affirmation, talking through what’s causing you to feel stressed can make the next step seem clearer and help you to take control.
Take time for hobbies
It’s important to still make time to do what you enjoy. Finding even half an hour to enjoy a hobby can make a real difference and help relieve stress.
Take a break
Sometimes you just need to relax. Take a moment and some time away from what is stressing you out – maybe try yoga, meditation, spend some time in nature, or even just listen to some music. These are all are great ways to relieve stress and take a break from it all.
Try something new
We’ve already talked about making time for hobbies, well why not try a new one! Setting yourself the challenge of learning something new can be a great escape and you might discover a new passion for something you never knew before.
Eat healthily
Eating well can help you feel better in general and when you’re feeling stressed, it can be easy to resort to fast food or even forget to eat. Make sure you’re not skipping meals, and plan your meals, taking time to cook and prepare.
Different methods work for each of us but it’s important to make sure you’re keeping an eye on your stress levels and mental health.
