#NationalStressAwarenessMonth: Ways Employers Can Reduce Stress.
5 Ways to Help Reduce Stress as an Employer.
Lead by Example.
As a manager or a person supervising other members of staff in a workplace, it’s important to not let any negativity, anger or stress that you may be feeling rub off on your employees.
Practice what you preach and ensure you give yourself enough time to de-stress at the end of a working day. Looking for some tips on how to reduce your stress levels? Check out our previous blog in this #NationalStressAwarenessMonth series right here: Self Help For Stress.
Workplace Wellness Schemes.
One of the best ways to combat stress is to live a healthier lifestyle and practice exercise regularly. With that being said, as an employer considering workplace wellness schemes such as organising a lunchtime running club or giving employees a discount to the offices local gym, are great ways to help employees better combat their stress.
Communication is Key.
Communication with your employees is vital. Making sure employees are aware of any changes in the workplace and the expectations you have for them with regards to their workload is paramount in helping to reduce the risk of stress and anxiety manifesting in your staff.
Not only that, but communication is a two-way street and by being open and honest with your employees will mean they’re more likely to be the same way with you, meaning they’ll feel more comfortable to share any concerns or anxieties they may have so you can help deal with them from the outset.
Therefore, keeping your employees up to date with all of the above as well as any company developments and departmental changes is crucial for a much stronger working relationship and overall healthier company culture.
A Safe Space.
Providing a designated quiet area, or a chill-out space where employees can spend time with their thoughts can dramatically help reduce overall workplace stress. A simple space with comfortable seating and neutral coloured walls will provide a pleasant enough environment that is good for boosting happiness and eliminating stress.
Create Social Activity.
Team lunches, staff nights out, social events and team building exercises are all brilliant examples of reducing stress and boosting morale! Your employees will spend a lot of their time together and therefore it’s important that they get on – especially considering a bonded team is more likely to be a less stressed team!
