Which UK region asks about salary the most at interview?.
We’re usually told to avoid mentioning salary at interviews altogether as it tends to indicate a person may only be interested in the money and not the company.
The survey conducted by CV-Library found that 30% of interviewees in Scotland admitted that they would ask about salary. Compare this with 17.5% from the rest of Britain and it’s clear we’ve found our winner.
In addition to this, The Scotsman reported that in Aberdeen that figure is actually closer to 50% with almost half of job seekers stating they would discuss salary in the interview room.
Founder and Managing Director of CV-Library, Lee Biggins, still advises asking the more traditional questions at interview:
“Rather than going straight in with questions around salaries and working hours, you can find out more about a company by posing questions about their culture, teams and how they measure success…Doing so will help you paint a picture of what it’s like to work there, and will also show to the interviewer that you are passionate about working in a company where the fit is right on both sides.”
