Global Diversity Month Recap.
Now that October and Global Diversity Month are over, we wanted to look back at what we achieved.
Throughout the month we celebrated and educated each other on the many important matters impacting our colleagues. We started the month by working to remove the silence around menopause. We took the opportunity to collate anonymous data from our female colleagues and use it to influence our education and awareness initiatives going forward.
Up next was mental health awareness day, but we decided to raise awareness all week! We launched a mindfulness microsite for our colleagues, in collaboration with a meditation specialist. We also made steps to make sure all our colleagues were maintaining the right work-life balance, by launching our work-life balance survey to gain real insight into the experiences of our colleagues when it comes to balancing their work and home life.
Throughout week three we showed racism the red card to raise awareness and funds to support a leading UK anti-racism charity. Show Racism the Red Card is the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity. It was amazing to see so many of our colleagues come together for a very important cause.
And last but definitely not least, to celebrate Black History Month Dawn Lewinson from the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (ENEI) hosted an impactful webinar on race awareness for our colleagues. A special thank you to our guest speakers Isaac Okeowo, Group Director of Learning & Development, and Yaw Boateng, Renewable Energy Director at Staffgroup, for sharing your lived experiences.
We’ve learned so much this month and now it’s time for us to turn our learnings into actions as we continue to build a workplace where we all feel welcome and safe to be our authentic selves. Even though the month is over, our commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace isn’t.
