FPS Operations Manager – Band 6

Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated FPS Operations Manager to join the Family Practitioner Services team.

The successful candidate will support the FPS Senior Manager in the day-to-day management of FPS payment and business operations, ensuring the delivery of efficient, accurate and customer-focused services to Family Practitioner Services contractors.

This is a varied management role encompassing service delivery, financial and payment processes, people management, business improvement, project delivery and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will also deputise for senior management when required and contribute to the development and implementation of new and improved services.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Supporting the day-to-day management of FPS business, payment and customer-facing services.
• Leading and managing teams to achieve agreed objectives, service standards and performance targets.
• Developing and improving processes and procedures to enhance service efficiency and quality.
• Monitoring payment, financial and information data to maintain accuracy and identify areas for improvement.
• Ensuring payment processes are accurate, timely and compliant with relevant procedures and audit requirements.
• Supporting financial monitoring, variance reporting and the management of operational and financial risks.
• Leading and contributing to projects, ensuring targets, milestones and deadlines are achieved.
• Analysing complex information and producing reports, presentations and management information.
• Supporting the implementation and development of FPS systems and online services.
• Providing advice and guidance on operational and payment-related queries.
• Developing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across Health and Social Care.
• Supporting internal and external audits and the implementation of agreed recommendations.
• Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and supporting the development of new services.
• Managing staff performance, workloads, objectives and development.
• Deputising for FPS Senior Managers when required.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet one of the following:

Option 1:

• Hold a degree or professional qualification in Business, Finance or IT; and
• Have at least 2 years’ experience in Payments, Finance or IT, including 1 year at management level.

OR

Option 2:

• Have at least 5 years’ experience in Payments, Finance or IT, including 1 year at management level.

Management level is defined as Band 5 or above.

Applicants must also:

• Hold a full current driving licence valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criterion may be waived for applicants whose disability prevents driving, provided suitable alternative arrangements can be made.

Desirable Criteria

It would be advantageous to have working knowledge of Health and Personal Social Services Terms and Conditions of Service relating to one of the following contractor groups:

• GPs
• Dentists
• Pharmacists
• Optometrists
