We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a busy public sector organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to support the delivery of capital investment and maintenance projects, ensuring contracts are managed effectively and provide value for money.

– 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9:00am – 5:00pm)
– Temporary Contract (Initial 3 Months)

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of construction and maintenance projects. You will be responsible for supporting contract administration, tender evaluation, budget monitoring, cost control, and contractor engagement to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist in the development of specifications, drawings, bills of quantities and schedules of rates.
• Support the tendering process, including receiving and evaluating tenders and quotations.
• Prepare agreements and contracts and assist with contract administration.
• Monitor project budgets, cash-flow forecasts and expenditure.
• Ensure effective commercial risk management and compliance with contract terms and conditions.
• Liaise with contractors and consultants to monitor project progress and resolve issues.
• Authorise works instructions, variations and invoices within delegated authority levels.
• Maintain accurate project records and performance-monitoring information.
• Provide technical and commercial advice to management and project teams.
• Support risk management activities, including maintaining risk registers and implementing mitigation measures.

Essential Criteria

• Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant construction or surveying discipline.
• At least 2 years’ Quantity Surveying experience.
• Experience in contract administration, cost management and tender evaluation.
• Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
• Good knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant quantity surveying software.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, consultants and stakeholders.
