Pharmacy Assistant (Band 2) – Causeway Hospital

Salary: £24,465 per annum (pro rata for part-time posts)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 5:00pm

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Assistant to join the Pharmacy Department at Causeway Hospital. Working under the supervision of Senior Pharmacy Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists, you will support the delivery of an efficient, safe and responsive pharmacy service.

This role is ideal for someone who is organised, customer-focused and able to work effectively within a busy healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, check and store pharmaceutical stock.
  • Prepare and distribute ward and department orders.
  • Maintain accurate records using the EPIC pharmacy system.
  • Support stock control, stock rotation and expiry date monitoring.
  • Handle pharmacy reception and telephone enquiries.
  • Assist with dispensing, pre-packing and distribution of medicines.
  • Deliver pharmacy supplies and controlled drugs to wards and departments.
  • Maintain clean and safe working areas.
  • Follow pharmacy procedures, infection control guidelines and health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with pharmacy stock checks and inventory management.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies and working practices.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • 5 GCSEs (Grades A-G) or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics at Grade D or above

OR

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff

Successful candidates who do not already hold the pharmacy qualification will be required to undertake the relevant training.
