• Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
• Friday: 8:00am – 1:00pm

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fitter to join a busy manufacturing team based in Lisburn.

This is a hands-on role supporting the production of containerised gas engines. You will be responsible for fitting, positioning and assembling components while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Production Foreperson, Team Leaders, subcontractors and other departments to ensure production targets and quality standards are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

• Carrying out general mechanical fitting and stripping duties associated with the build and dispatch of units.
• Moving, positioning and assembling components and equipment.
• Completing drilling, cutting and grinding tasks as required.
• Assisting with lifting and shifting heavy equipment.
• Measuring and fitting differential pressure hoses.
• Completing tagging on units.
• Cleaning and painting units where required prior to dispatch.
• Supporting welding-related duties as required.
• Ensuring all completed units meet the required quality standards and production timescales.
• Working in accordance with relevant method statements, risk assessments and Health & Safety procedures.
• Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards across the shop floor.
• Supporting Forepersons and Team Leaders with production-related issues.
• Assisting other departments when required.
• Contributing to continuous improvement and identifying more efficient ways of working.
• Carrying out any other reasonable duties required by management.

Essential Criteria

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Hold a mechanical qualification and/or have a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience, or:
• Be educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Maths at Grade C or above, or hold an NVQ Level 2 in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a mechanical fitting role.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety within a working environment.
• Experience in lifting and slinging.
• Experience with drilling, cutting and grinding.
• Experience lifting and moving heavy equipment.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
• Good communication skills.
• Reliable, trustworthy and professional with the ability to work under pressure.
• Willingness to undertake mandatory in-house training.
• Flexibility to work overtime when required by the production schedule.

Desirable Criteria

The following would be advantageous:

• Overhead crane licence.
• Manual handling training.
• Working at heights/ladder training.
• Full driving licence.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Valid forklift licence.
